Keeping your Feet on the Ground in a Mobile World

Vodafone UK, part of the Vodafone Group Plc, the world's largest mobile phone telecommunications company community, has been located in Warrington since the mid 1980s. Its third exchange was sited there as its network spread across the UK; Brentford in the South, Solihull for the Midlands and then Warrington for the North.

Communications are obviously key for Vodafone but the decision in 2001 as to where the Northern Regional Centre was sited brought in additional considerations.

"Recruiting the right people is exceptionally important to Vodafone. We looked at the top dozen call centre locations nationally and Warrington came out very well. As a result we located not just the call centre there, but also our northern sales and technical operations. Straddled between Liverpool and Manchester, Warrington gives us a strong geographic location, proximity to major motorways and access to a good labour market and skilled workforce."
